Coping and Healing Skills

Stuff I’ve worked out over the past few years for self-healing w/o meds.

  • Positive affirmations about yourself.
  • Forgive yourself and others.
  • Extra sleep. Naps.
  • Meditation every day.
  • Yoga incl. kundalini yoga.
  • Memes esp. funny or wholesome memes. Imgur.
  • Follow positive people on social media. Unfollow negative/toxic people.
  • Positive (funny, educational, inspirational) television/movies/videos.
  • Avoid all violent media and games.
  • Avoid toxic people and places (like pubs and clubs).
  • Study a marketable skill e.g. on Udemy or Coursera.
  • Give love to others who might need it (the more you give the more you get and the better you feel).
  • Walk. Cycle. Skate. Hike. Camp.
  • Spend time w friends and family.
  • Pray.
  • Cook nice foods for you and your friends or family (or just you).
  • Tell yourself constantly that you deserve love and happiness (because you do).
  • Stick to a healthy whole foods vegan diet most of the time. As much as possible should be organic.
  • Fast sometimes. But if freaking out or depressed, stop and eat. Restrict calories a little if you need to, but not too much. Don’t make yourself suffer.
  • When sad or scared or freaking out, drink water.
  • Restrict carbs esp. sugar and grains.
  • Eat lots of veggies, legumes, nuts, fruit, and mushrooms.
  • Allow yourself treats like vegan ice cream or cereal. Just don’t binge.
  • Drink lots of water (at least 4 litres/day).
  • No drugs incl. smoking and drinking.
  • Smile at others, listen to them and give them your full attention.
  • Call people on the phone instead of texting. Much more emotional information is shared with audio vs. text.
  • Help and be kind to others.
  • Get a pet to take care of (or take care of someone else’s).
  • Volunteer.
  • Go to concerts, festivals, market days and so on w friends.
  • Go to protests. Get involved in causes.
  • Do everything good that you can for yourself, others, animals, and the planet.
  • Stand up for yourself. Not in an angry way, but in an assertive way that expresses love and respect for yourself, and understanding and forgiveness of others.
  • Fix and make things.
  • Gardening.

I like to read, write, teach, travel, code, lift weights, play music, listen to music, make things out of wood, watch scifi movies, and play board games and computer games. My interests are broad, spanning science, engineering, architecture, technology, nutrition, environment, psychology, health, fitness, finance, business, and economics, but my main passions are spirituality, space settlement, and veganism. My ambition is to be a successful writer and speaker, and to create a company to produce awesome science fiction books, movies, and games that inspire people about the future. Eventually, I would also like to create vegan cafes and urban farms.
